The Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture Program (AFP) has become a key part of the federal government’s efforts to combat major criminal activity by stripping criminals of their ill-gotten gains.

The AFP involves the hard work of numerous government agencies and contractors, and the United States Marshal Service (USMS) has long played a critical role by managing and disposing of assets seized and forfeited by federal law enforcement agencies nationwide. The USMS is involved throughout the forfeiture process and is a hub of communication among the many organizations working together in the business of asset forfeiture.
